Nando's Homemade Pita

Ingredient List:

4 pita breads

400 grams of chicken, cut into bite sized pieces

1 teaspoon barbeque or chicken spice

1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs

3 tablespoons mayonnaise or yoghurt

1/4 cup Nando's extra hot/hot/mild sauce

1/4 cup Nando's lemon and herb sauce

1 diced English cucumber,

180 grams lettuce, roughly chopped

juice of 1 lemon


Step 1: Marinate chicken in barbeque spice, mixed herbs, Nando's sauces and 2 tablespoons of mayo or yoghurt

Step 2: Cover and let it marinade for at least 30 minutes at room temperature. 

Step 3: Place a small pot over a medium heat and add chicken. 

Step 4: Cook chicken for 10 to 15 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked. 

Step 5: Meanwhile, heat your pitas according to the instructions on the packaging. 

Step 6: Place your lettuce and cucumber into a bowl and add lemon juice. 

Step 7: Mix and set aside. 

Step 8: Remove your chicken from the heat and add the rest of the mayo or yoghurt. 

Step 9: Assemble your pita by adding some of the lettuce and cucumber mix, followed by chicken and then top it up with more of lettuce and cucumber mix. (You can also add another dollop of mayo if you wish).


Serve with fries or enjoy it as is :).
